How did aggressive nationalism push france and germany to the brink of war in the early 1900s?
France and Germany, along with the other powerful countries in Europe (Austria-Hungary, Russia, Britain and Italy) started building up their Armies. People were more patriotic, and were especially proud of the military. They all were eager to be able to say that their country was the most powerful. Then, when neighbouring countries became especially strong, they were suspicious. Governments then formed alliances and military plans, setting Europe up for a war.
